Newsletters are regurlarly published in order to provide information on the project status and some scientific issues in relationship with ice-sheet calculation and climate change. The newsletter is intended to reach a wider audience than the official project documentation by presenting some of the results in a magazine-like format.

Phase 2 Newsletters - from April 2015:

Newsletter Issue 9 - June 2018

Newsletter Issue 9The 9th Newsletter of the ESA Greenland_Ice_Sheet_cci project is now available. The newsletter promotes 5 data products released during Spring 2018.

Newsletter Issue 8 - November 2017

Newsletter Issue 8The 8th Newsletter of the ESA Greenland_Ice_Sheet_cci project is now available. This promotes 2 new and 2 updated data products released in November 2017.

Newsletter Issue 7 - March 2017

Newsletter Issue 7The 7th issue of the ESA Greenland_Ice_Sheet_cci project is now available here. A presentation is made of the new set of data products released in March 2017.

Phase 1 Newsletters:

Newsletter Issue 4 - July 2015

Newsletter Issue 4This Newsletter Issue 4 was prepared for the Greenland meeting in July 2015 - presenting Phase 1 status just prior to final update of the data products.

Newsletter Issue 3 - September 2013

Newsletter Issue 1The third issue of the ESA CCI Ice Sheets newsletter is now available here. The newsletter is intended to reach a wider audience than the official project documentation by presenting some of the results in a magazine-like format. The main topic of this issue is the release of the prototype products.

The prototype products are now available for each of the four ECV parameters of the CCI Ice Sheets project. The newsletter also contains an invitation to participate in a questionnaire concerning a possible future CCI Antarctica project (the questionnaire is now closed).

Newsletter Issue 2 - February 2013

Newsletter Issue 1The second issue of the ESA CCI Ice Sheets newsletter is now available here. The newsletter is intended to reach a wider audience than the official project documentation by presenting some of the results in a magazine-like format. The main topic of this issue is the results of the Roind-Robin exercise.

The Round-Robin exercise was announced on the home page of the Ice_Sheets_cci project esa-icesheets-cci.org, on the CRYOLIST email list, and by personal invitation of 47 select scientists. A total of 22 submissions were received, distributed between SEC (7), IV (9), and CFL (6). The GLL parameter received no submissions, this is understood to be due to the experimental nature of this parameter. The Round-Robin submissions were anonymized and analyzed.

The contribution of Round-Robin participants will is key to selecting an algorithm for an operational remote-sensing based ice sheet monitoring system, serving glaciological and climate research communities.

Newsletter Issue 1 - August 2012

Newsletter Issue 1The first issue of the ESA CCI Ice Sheets newsletter is now available here. The main article of this issue is the results of the User Survey, carried out in the first phase of the Ice Sheets CCI project. The User Survey had 44 responders with a wide variety of backgrounds, united by their professional interest in ice sheets and the cryosphere.

The Round-Robin exercise is currently on-going and the first results are starting to trickle in. We encourage all interested to take a look at the Round-Robin site (requires registration). Since this is the first issue, we also happy to be able to introduce our Climate Research Group (CRG) and ourselves.
